Waqar, Misbah ‘sudden’ resign ahead of T20 WC

LAHORE: Pakistan cricket team bowling coach Waqar You as and head coach Misbah-ul-Haq resigned on Monday leaving cricket-lover in a shock. Former spin-wizard Sawlain Mushtaq and allrounder Abdul Razzaq would be interim coaches for upcoming New Zealand Series.
Apparently Misbah gave reason of resignation as “giving time to the family” while Waqar reason was more interesting. The announcement came as soon the squad for T20 World Cup was announced making resignations more suspicious. Saama TV quoting sources reported that PCB new chairman Rameez Raja has asked the duo to resign from the job or else they would be sacked.
It is pertinent to mention that duo signed a contract with Pakistan Cricket Board in September 2019 and as per contract, still have one year to work with national cricket team. Misbah said that he has spent considerable time away from familly while Younis said that since he and Misbah had joined together, it made sense to also ‘step down together’.
The series against New Zealand will be played from September 21. It will be held after a three-match One-day International series which kicks off on September 17 while in October Pakistan will be hosting England. TF Report
