COVID-19 claims 18 more patients, infects 817 others
KARACHI: As many as 18 more patients of Coronavirus died overnight lifting the death toll to 7,210 and 817 new cases emerged when 16,935 tests were conducted.
This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here on Wednesday.
He said that 18 more patients of COVID-19 lost their lives lifting the death toll to 7,210 that constituted a 1.6 percent death rate. Mr. Shah said that 16,935 samples were tested which detected 817 cases that constituted a 4.8 percent current detection rate.
He said at so far 5,797,878 tests have been conducted against which 447,050 cases were diagnosed, of the 89.6 percent or 400,523 patients have recovered, including 496 overnight.
The CM said that currently, 39,317 patients were under treatment, of the 38,622 were in home isolation, 35 were at isolation centers, and 660 were at different hospitals. He said that the condition of 588 patients was stated to be critical, including 54 shifted to ventilators.
According to the statement, out of 817 new cases, 226 have been detected from Karachi, including 98 from East, 39 Central, 30 South, 22 Korangi, 21 Malir, and 16 West. Hyderabad has 103, Thatta 61, Sujawal 46, Badin and Sanghar 31 each, Jamshoro and Tando Allahyar 30 each, Tharparkar 29, Matiari and Umerkot 27 each, Dadu and Sukkur 25 each, Tando Muhammad Khan 19, Nausheroferoze 18, Mirpurkhas and Shikarpur 15 each, Jacobabad 11, Ghotki 10, Larkana and Shaheed Benazirabad 8 each and Khairpur 1.
