Imran Khan records his statement before JIT at SSP Office

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan on Wednesday recorded his statement before the joint investigation team (JIT) in a case pertaining to hurling threats to a female judge at SSP Office.

He was interrogated for 20 minutes in the office. The JIT headed by the SSP Investigations gave a questionnaire carrying 21 questions.

The JIT of Islamabad Police is headed by SSP (Operations) Islamabad Farhat Abbas Kazmi.

An FIR under Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA) was registered against Khan after he threatened an Islamabad woman judge and senior police officials addressing a public rally last month.

The Islamabad High Court had ordered Imran Khan to join the probe against him.

The police serviced two notices on the former prime minister who failed to show up. However, on Wednesday Imran Khan arrived at the SSP Investigation office.

The local administration has made full proof arrangement prior to the visit of PTI chairman.

Talking to the media after recording his statement, Imran Khan said that this case has become a joke before the world and he has recorded his statement despite it.

“My message to the government is that they will become much more strong through your ordeals,” he added.

He said that the government would not be able to bear the protest call given by him. “Thieves have been imposed on us and as a result, the economy is going out of control,” he maintained.

The PTI chairman said that Pakistan is following the footsteps of Sri Lanka. “We can only hold talks with the government for fair and transparent elections. The wait is about to come to an end,” he added.

He said that they were collecting funds for the flood victims when the live transmission was turned off. TF REPORT
